Winners and the MBA Mesh Survey 2016 results

Hi Maddicts!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!! I just wanted to start by thanking you all so much for the sweet comments so many of you left in my last post!! You are all so kind, and it was just such an amazing way to start my holidays, so thank you!! I started trying to respond to everyone but it got out of hand hehe, so in case I didn’t, thank you <3

Now before I get in to this post – you may have noticed I’ve been trialling some ‘News Flash’ style posts (which are more like brief updates about major news like Slink’s new release and the bento release). Quick question for you guys – what do you think about this style? Do you like having the ‘big’ news communicated immediately in that style rather than waiting for a post? Would love your thoughts!

Do you like the 'News Flash' style posts?

So, before this girl enjoys some downtime (and wow am I looking forward to it, it’s been such a busy year RL and SL!), I wanted to share the winners of the gift card competition I ran on Facebook and on the blog! After spending a lot of time allocating each of you a number (haha should’ve thought that through a bit better!), I used a random number generator to select winners, and then repeated that process with the gift cards and the winners to see who would win what! Soooo after alllll of that, here are the winners:

nerthuschild resident – 1000L Pink Pearl Designs Giftcard

The prizes have all been sent out, so check your inventory! I hope you all enjoy spending them as much as I did running around buying them 😀 I might have to do more competitions in the future, it’s so much fun sharing some giftcard love <3

Also, it’s time to show the results of the MBA Mesh Body/Head Survey that I started a month or two back. I wanted to capture the market before we entered the fully-fledged bento world, so you can find those below. As always, I like to preface the surveys by saying there’s no way we can really tell how accurate the results are. I shared the survey with mesh body/head designers, the inworld Mesh Body Addicts group and my blog and Facebook. Obviously, there’s no way to know what sample of the population took the survey, other than to say they are most likely in some way connected with my blog (as a reader/designer/whatever the case may be).

Some results I did find to be interesting – Belleza is clearly taking up a little more market share than they used to, which could possibly be a result of the designer kits once again being released, and therefore more fitmesh becoming available. Slink I believe overall would still have more market share at this point than Belleza, but it’s impossible to know for sure.

I also found some of the smaller designer’s results to be unusual if not skewed somewhat – Tonic features as being more in use than TMP for example, or about half that of Slink users, which I don’t believe to be the case.

What’s clear however is that at this immediate point in time, the big players are still Maitreya, Belleza and Slink (at least in the human/non rp market).

Have a great holiday period everyone and I’ll be back with new reviews and more in 2017!!

  1. Actually, Tonic bodies are rising in popularity, partially because of the affordability and inclusion of the 3 Slink compatible feet and hands. They are also the first body maker to have their Bento-compatible hands out.

Love the blog and the info it gives.

    • That’s quite possible too – who knows, next survey could show a real swing in body uptake, which to me would be great because it signals more diversification in the mesh body market, which is quite tightly held by the top three right now. I’m all for diversity <3

      Merry Christmas Bobbie! <3

  2. Oh not at all – I’m not dismissing the body in any way – in fact I think the Tonic Fine body was such an incredible addition to the market that I refer new users to it quite frequently 🙂 I don’t feel that it’s shortsighted to discuss my personal interpretation of the data however. When I’m talking about the survey results, I’m simply talking ‘on the whole’ – meaning if I were to use this data as a start point for picturing what the rest of SL mesh body wearers were wearing, I wouldn’t expect Tonic to hold such a high percentage, that’s all 🙂

Maitreya is a great body, I agree, but personally I wear most bodies in my day to day SL. I never encourage one body type to anyone, because the simple fact is that everyone’s idea of who ‘they’ are in SL is different – there is no ‘right’ answer.

I also never say that I’m always right – because all I’m doing is exploring data and sharing opinions, which can always be proven wrong! I’m just a person like anyone else, after all.

    • Hey Tori! Not at all, in fact I encourage all comments here as long as they’re constructive 🙂 If in fact the take-up of these bodies is getting bigger, than it’s important designers know that too for sure, so over time we’ll definitely see if it’s a set trend 😀

  3. Hi 🙂 Merry Christmas!!!
I read your post about the fact that some creators were being rude to you about reviewing their itens, that’s so aggravating! But I must confess I miss Weekly Fitmesh Finds so much… I was so addicted to it, I’m having withdrawal since then lol
