SUMMARY

  • I did notice with the lips (which tends to be on of the main things I change with bento heads), I was getting the ‘can’t close my mouth’ look that you sometimes get (ie. the teeth and poking out between the lips). To fix this, I noticed that increasing the lower lip ratio using the slider helps fix this.
  • I love that the heads have many additional features included with it, and I looove that! For example, the head has the following accessories built in: Braces, a tongue piercing, a ‘blood on the tip of the tongue’ option, dripping bloody teeth option and facial contour/beauty mark options – all of which are incredible!
  • The animations with the head are quite nice, especially compared to some of the older head’s animations. I love the option to use either static mouth or eye poses and full face animations as well too.
  • I did experience a few potential glitches with the HUD, animations and layers – the head does ‘flash’ a lot when you apply textures to layers, though this will usually fix itself straight away. Also if you use the HUD too fast when changing tabs, sometimes you’ll accidentally click the wrong thing, so take it slow!
  • These heads don’t come with any built in skins, you’ll need to buy one (there’s a selection of them featured in the Genesis Labs store from a few different designers), which for the Genesis Lab’s Eva skin will set you back another 500L (and the body appliers, however at 200L per body type for all skin tones it’s quite reasonably priced).
  • I think the HUD design can make usability a little difficult – the biggest issue I had was working out whether or not I had an animation active, and if so, which one. I eventually worked out to stop a full face animation I needed to reselect a static one, so that’s handy to know.
  • I would love see the ability to pause the animations mid-animation for photography purposes, or perhaps more expressions included.

  1. I’ve found since buying this head and new Maitreya skin appliers that there’s a very distinct line that is visible between the head and neck. The neck fix/patch doesn’t help. I’m curious if this is why you chose to go with the scarf around your neck in the video?

    • Hey Subversive! Ah no I was just in love with it (if it was a problem I experienced I would have pointed it out rather than hidden it). In the windlights I personally don’t see much of a line, but I know other users have said they have, which is a shame. Let me play around with it and see if I can find the problem and a solution <3

      • Since originally writing you I have gone with another skin applier made for Genesis Labs by E. Vary, that has a better appearance at the neck seam. My original skin was the Madlen that had been made a couple years back by Genesis. I can’t be certain, but I think that what may have happened is that when they updated the skin tones, they did not release an updated version to precisely match slightly older heads. The appliers made for Maitreya bodies and the ones made for the Vista Bento hands, match up perfectly. I hope that some day perhaps she will be inclined to update the textures made for her heads. Last note, before buying the skin by E. Vary I demo’d all of the most recent Genesis skins in combination with new head appliers she’s put out. I was surprised to find no improvement in the neck seam unless, like you mention you use Windlight settings that force no shadows (like avatar opt or avatar opt whiter). I’d much rather go through SL with virtually no seam on default lighting.
