An update from Daria

Hi Maddicts!

I just wanted to reach out and quickly touch base with you all 🙂 As you may know, recently I haven’t been posting as much and I wanted to share a little bit of the ‘why’ with you 🙂

It has (incredibly) been 4 years since I started Mesh Body Addicts blog – crazy right? Over that time the blog has grown because well, mesh bodies have expanded from one body on the market to many, and mesh heads, bento and all sorts of other amazing creations have followed.

Over that time the blog has changed and evolved into many things – an annual event that runs every August (the Mesh Body Addicts Fair), a bi-monthly event (4Mesh) an in world group and so much more, and I’ve been so fortunate to watch this community evolve.

Over the past few months I’ve been debating with myself what I wanted to do with the blog in 2018. Given mesh bodies and heads are so common now – in fact they’re a main part of SL life – and given that other more prominent bloggers are now doing the reviews that I’ve been doing for all these years, I wonder if it’s time to step back and focus my energies on my store, Maddict, and my inworld events and help group (the Mesh Body Addicts group).

One thing I’m struggling with is that I genuinely love helping people – and the more my obligations have increased, the less time I’ve had to be in world with you guys helping answer questions and provide guidance where I can. This is also the reason the idea of closing the blog is so hard – I love making tutorials to help you guys out, and making information as accessible for you as I can.

So as you can tell, I’m in a few minds about this whole thing. I would love to devote more time to Maddict and creating, and to the inworld group and events. So with that all in mind, I’ve decided to step back from the blog until the New Year and give myself the Christmas period to think about it all, and spend some time improving my mesh creation skills for Maddict 🙂

So all that said Maddicts, I just wanted to give you all an update on my thoughts, and of course, wish you all an amazing holiday period and new year!! <3

See you in 2018 Maddicts, and thank you as always for your incredible support over the past few years.

  1. Of course we will miss you here but we can always find you in world. Needs change and the focus moves sideways and its not a bad thing. Your future endeavours sound exciting too. Go and enjoy and look back on your time blogging as the first step.
Thanks for all your help and have a wonderful holiday and New Year celebration. Roll on 2018.

  2. I for one would be very sad to see the blog stop – I think it has been and continues to be an astounding resource and a truly amazing accomplishment. That said, MBA was all about new and shiny – I think before MBA we had dark mutterings in scattered forums about the treatment of wowmeh, and individuals exploring and sharing the potential for fitmesh and mesh bodies and what it all meant. That was then. So new and shiny now is whatever comes out of bento and the upcoming explosion of independently automated animated attachments – will we see clothing starting to move again? pfft.. no doubt something completely left field will be the ‘old news’ in two years time.

I think you have been a shining star in Sl Daria, and I am pretty sure thats not going to stop, regardless of the future of your amazing blog. Shine on you crazy diamond indeed <3

  3. HI Daria enjoy your Holiday!
I love your blog it is a amazing resource your work on it has helped me and many people move into the world of mesh bodies. I hope you continue to make your heart sing in whatever form you choose. Thank you!

  4. I kind of understand why you wouldn’t be posting as much, even though new mesh heads are being created, mesh/bento is kind of at a standstill. I do hope that the website will still be here as it has a lot of useful to new SL residents that may be new to mesh (but they even have starter mesh av’s). Unless something significantly changes in SL when it comes to av’s, I absolutely understand you focusing your efforts on other pursuits.

    • Thank you for your kind words <3 I think whatever I do the blog will stay live - I'm considering removing the 'blog' element and making it more of a resource page, tutorials and information only, rather than regular posts about not much, what do you think of that idea? <3

      • Ms Daria,
I think that’s an excellent idea as an informative site vs a blog is where the value of your site Shines there are plenty of blogs out there with their view. An informative and insightful sites they are usually not, very few that really go to the depth and reviews that yours does.

  5. Enjoy your holiday season, relax and work less. ENJOY time with friends and family and your creative side. Loves this blog and would hate to see it go so much information. Maybe blog partner with another blogger doing reviews of mesh heads and bodies in the new year.

  6. Hello,

Happy Holidays! A big thank you for the Reviews you’ve done. It’s helped me and a friends of mine to determine the pros and cons of mesh bodies and heads we’ve considered buying. I always give people your site as a resource when they’re new or not too knowledgable.

Good luck in whatever you decide! 🙂

  7. Yes, Daria, please please leave at least an archive of your blog pages online — I am still migrating into mesh, don’t have a mesh head yet, too much RL demand on me to be an “early adopter” — ha! I know I am a very late adopter!! Your work here is invaluable.

Maybe you can only blog twice a year, or whenever you see fit, as things change in the future. 🙂

  8. I can understand how you feel about wanting/needing to take a step back from the blog. but when I help people get meshed up, your blog is the resource I give them. I have found it so well categorized and easy for new comers to understand. What ever you decide, I want to thank you for all of your effort over the years. It is very much appreciated by many more than you will ever know.
Lots of love to you and your family over the holidays!

  9. Just want to throw in my pennyworth. If you search google for “second life mesh bodies” … yours is the one that comes up. I always refer people to this blog … not for the blog but for the reviews … that’s the major benefit of this site.

  10. Hi Daria .. I am from Germany hope my sentences are understandable. I hope you post many reviews about new mesh things like bodies and heads. Mesh is not so common as you think… I see many people without mesh. I love to read about new things … and it is leading through the jungle of meshbodyparts.

  11. Hi Daria
I remembered when I heard about mesh Heads and Bodies and was then playing with the idea to get mesh but I had no idea what it was all about , so I started to google and your blog was right there on top. So I came to you. I remember my first mesh head which I was disappointed about and you helped me finding the right applier. I booked marked your page for future references. Your blog helped with my second dicission a mesh body. I am happy I found your blog and I think many others will say the same. You have help this not so old woman to understand the big change in SL and help me to be apart of that big change. Yes there are many Bloggers out there, but each blogger is unique in their own little way..yours stand out!
When I need to know whats new in sl..I come here. When I want to know if there are updates..I come here. So you stop Blogging will have a great impact on ppl like me..who have found someone who guides us.

I am sorry to you will be no longer apart of the help community. Thank you for everything. God speed.
I will certainly miss your Blog.

    • Hey Simi! Thank you for your kind words, they really mean so much to me <3 I've decided that I will keep the blog, and in fact focus more on the help aspect with tutorials and information. I want to be able to keep you guys updated on changes/newness but focus on the mesh part, not so much the fashion aspect, so though there will be less 'blog posts' per se, the blog will still be here 😀
